Fall Home Maintenance Checklist
As we wake up to these crisp September mornings, we are reminded that the seasons are about to change. A change in seasons is a great opportunity to stay ahead of home maintenance. Harsh winter weather can put a strain on your home and its systems, so fall is a great time to do a quick check-up to help minimize surprise repairs (and expenses) this winter!
Keep reading for what I think is the most useful fall home maintenance checklist around, plus one bonus tip!
Fall Home Maintenance Checklist
- Check & clean gutters
- Seal any air leaks around windows & doors
- Inspect your roof condition
- Prep outside faucets for freezing temps
- Protect indoor pipes that are exposed to cold temps
- Blow out sprinklers
- Check for and remove any failing tree limbs
- Replace your furnace filter
- Do your once-a-year HVAC check-up
- Inspect the fireplace & chimney
- Repair driveway and walkway cracks
- Check smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
- Clean up any leaves and fertilize grass
- Touch up any chipping exterior paint
BONUS - If you’re considering selling your home during the winter months, make sure to have your realtor send a photographer by to take exterior photos while the grass is green and leaves are still on your trees!
